Pregnancy and Parenting Calendar

Childbirth and family education classes are offered year 'round and include specialty classes for new dads, siblings and grandparents, CPR instruction for family and friends and postnatal exercise classes. Whether delivering a first child or one of many, our classes enhance and complement your doctors' advice. Taught by certified experienced nurse instructors, these classes provide support and information that will take participants from pregnancy through the postpartum period and beyond.

All moms delivering at Condell's New Life Center receive "Footprints for the Future" a educational companion and journal to guide patients through pregnancy and beyond. Early Pregnancy

Prepared Childbirth
The Prepared Childbirth class offers a common-sense, thorough approach to a knowledgeable, relaxed childbirth. Team-taught by nurses from the New Life Center, this class stresses sensitivity to inner-body changes, abdominal breathing and relaxation methods. This class also covers the labor process, C-section, infant feeding, characteristics of the newborn and post-partum concerns. Prepared Childbirth is offered as a six-week session, three-week session or a one-day class. Fee required. One-day session: $115 includes lunch, Three-week session: $95, Six-week session $95. Boot Camp for New Dads
Learn how to meet the challenges of becoming a dad. First-time fathers learn from a pediatrician and experienced dads who bring their own babies to provide hands-on lessons in child care basics. $10 fee required. To register by phone, call (847) 990-5407.

Pre-and Postnatal Exercise Classes
Pre-and postnatal yoga and excerise classes are offered at the Centre Clubs located on the Condell Medical Center campus in Libertyville and in Gurnee. Caring For Baby
This one-session class teaches expectant parents diapering, bathing, feeding, when to call the doctor, safety tips and temperature-taking. Instructors also offer advice on purchasing infant equipment. $10 fee required. To register by phone, call (847) 990-5407.

Breastfeeding
Taught by a Certified Lactation Consultant, this two-hour program provides information on getting started, successful technique, planning for separation related to work and other activities, pumping and breast care. $10 fee required. To register by phone, call (847) 990-5407.

GRANDparents Class
This class provides updated information for new grandparents as they celebrate their new role. Learn the latest trends in prenatal and infant care, breastfeeding/bottlefeeding, safety issues and more. Free. To register by phone, call (847) 990-5407.

CPR for Family and Friends
This class is suggested for anyone –- from parents to babysitters – who are responsible for the care of infants and children. It provides an opportunity to individually practice cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) on a Resusci-Baby. The American Heart Association certifies all instructors. Single $25. Couple $40. Sibling Class
Youngsters have many questions about the arrival of a new baby in the family. In the Sibling Class, they learn where and how babies grow and learn how to diaper baby and taste baby formula. The Choice is Yours

Look What I Can Do!
Designed for parents and their infants from newborn through one year, this infant development class features topics of interest to new parents and offers creative and stimulating ways to play with baby. This ongoing drop-in class meets weekly. Free. To register by phone, call (847) 990-5407.

Infant Massage
During the one-session Infant Massage Class, parents learn the benefits of massage to enhance baby's relaxation, mood and bonding as they try the massage techniques firsthand. Safe Sitter
