Howard H. Greene, Jr. Intensive Care Unit

Condell's Howard H. Greene, Jr. Intensive Care Unit (ICU) opened in January 2003 to meet the demands of a rapidly growing number of acutely ill patients being treated at Condell. Efficiency and patient satisfaction are top priorities, so the entire unit has been expanded to 15,700 square feet to ensure that the right resources are immediately accessible and enough physical space is available to provide comprehensive treatment and care. The new ICCU even houses its own linen area, pharmacy and X-ray viewing station to ensure that everything the staff needs to care for their patients is right at their fingertips.

The new Condell ICU is bright and airy to promote healing and recovery. We designed the ICU so that the space positively contributes to the patient's recovery. Beyond this, we also made the space more family friendly because we realize that families are under a lot of stress when a loved one is in ICU. The all-new ICCU features 17 spacious patient rooms surrounding a middle island of nursing stations, advanced monitors and workspace. Each room is enclosed by glass walls to minimize noise and allow the nursing staff to actually see the patients they are monitoring at all times.

Recognizing the importance of family support for healing, the ICU visitors lounge offers plenty of room to accommodate large groups of friends and family. Comfortable seating and a television allow visitors to relax in a homelike environment. The space also provides private consultation rooms, bathroom and shower facilities, and a kitchenette.
