    What is the difference between the Gurnee Condell Immediate Care Center and the Emergency Room?

    The Gurnee Condell Immediate Care Center offers treatment to patients in need of prompt care, not emergency medical attention. Essentially, the Condell Immediate Care serve as an alternative when your physician is not available.

    Use the Gurnee Condell Immediate Care as an alternative to visiting the emergency room for these services.

    • Fever, vomiting, diarrhea, colds
    • Minor burns & cuts
    • Infections/rashes
    • Fractures
    • Strains
    • General wounds
    Situations where the emergency room should be considered:

    Visit the emergency room if you experience any of the following symptoms or need immediate medical attention: life-threatening scenarios such as; inability to breathe, chest pain, amputation, extensive wound and/or bleeding, loss of consciousness.

    What if I can't decide between the Gurnee Condell Immediate Care Center and the Emergency Room?

    First, if you feel you have an emergency situation (chest pain, extensive wounds or bleeding, loss of consciousness), please call 911. Secondly, you may call your physician or family pediatrician to help you identify the severity of the situation.

    What if the Gurnee Condell Immediate Care Center is closed when I need care?

    The Gurnee Condell Immediate Care Center is now open 24 hours every day of the year. If that center is closed, you may go to Condell Medical Center's Emergency Department in Libertyville. Call Condell's Emergency Department at (847) 990-5300 or click on the Condell's Emergency Department link for more information.

    What if I go to the Gurnee Condell Immediate Care Center and need the service of the emergency room?

    Each patient is assessed upon arrival at the Gurnee Condell Immediate Care Center. If it is determined that emergency medical attention is necessary, the Gurnee Condell Immediate Care Center will call 911 and offer initial care until an ambulance arrives. The Gurnee Condell Immediate Care Center is equipped with emergency medical equipment. See Quality and Convenience.

    How long should I expect to wait?

    At the Gurnee Condell Immediate Care, patients are seen in order of arrival or by the severity of their symptoms. The length of your wait will vary according to the number and type of cases being treated at that time.

    Will I receive a diagnosis over the phone?

    No. It is our policy that patients are seen directly by the physicians on staff to appropriately assess symptoms. No diagnoses will be given over the phone.

    Can I use the Gurnee Condell Immediate Care Center if I do not have a physician?

    Yes. Regardless of whether you have a physician, you may receive treatment at the Gurnee Condell Immediate Care Center. At your visit, a staff member can refer you to a physician in your area who is on the medical staff at Condell. You can also contact our Physician Referral Coordinator at (847) 990-5610 or search for a doctor online by clicking Find A Doctor.

    What will my insurance cover?

    The Gurnee Condell Immediate Care Center is located at 6440 Grand Ave., Gurnee, IL 60031 (On the northeast corner of the Grand Ave. and Hunt Club Rd. intersection).
