At Condell Hospice, we have a sincere appreciation for our team of caring volunteers. Volunteers are a vital component of the hospice philosophy and Condell hospice team. Whether it is performing clerical duties, visiting with a patient, providing respite or sharing a cup of coffee with a grieving family member your role on the team is versatile and invaluable.
There are many ways to make a difference
Patient Care Volunteers-Provide companionship and emotional support to patients and their families in order to enhance their quality of life. Duties may include: Conversation, companionship, listening to music, letter writing, life review etc. Patient care volunteers also provide much needed respite breaks for family members and caregivers.
Spiritual Care Volunteers-Provide spiritual support to patients and their families under the direction of the hospice chaplain. Duties may include reading from religious text, prayer, listening to prerecorded sermons or worship music, and caring presence.
Bereavement Volunteers-Provide bereavement support under the direction of the volunteer coordinator. Duties may include bereavement calls, mailings and visits to family members coping with the loss of a loved one.
Pet Therapy Volunteers-Provide visits to patients with your pet to provide socialization and companionship. All animals must be current on shots, be certified in pet therapy and be good with people.
Music therapy Volunteers-Provide visits to patients to play your soothing instrument of choice. Music therapy visits offer relaxation for patients.
Office Volunteers-Provide clerical support through office tasks such as filing, copying, special projects, data entry and mailings.
